Antibiotic support with oral penicillin in ambulant therapy for odontogenic infections

1991
: In an open clinical trial 51 patients suffering from odontogenous infections were treated with 3 mega units of propicillin (potassium salt) daily for a period of 5 to 10 days. During the therapy all objective and subjective symptoms disappeared or were markedly improved. Only two patients reported slight side effects (gastric disorders, exanthema). Propicillin proved to be an effective and well tolerated supplement for the surgical therapy of odontogenous infections.
