Identificación de Fake news por estudiantes de la ESO: Sesgo confirmatorio y justificación argumentativa de la credibilidad

2020
In today's society, news spread very quickly and anonymously, resulting in the proliferation of fake news. This project aims to analyze confirmation bias in news credibility and the argumentative quality of the written justification given to this credibility. A study was conducted on 55 high school students (14-15 years old) to analyze their previous position, their judgment on their reading comprehension, their argued degree of credibility, and their argued degree of agreement on the content of two articles about a climate change (false and true). Preliminary results indicate that students without a previous clear position gave higher credibility to the false article than those who had a strong contrary position on the subject. Those who were in favor of the fake new presented higher confirmation bias, showing worse argumentative quality.
