Design and analysis of digital circuit for walking speed measurement of intelligent artificial legs

2001
An intelligent artificial leg is a precise electromechanical device, one of whose key components is the walking speed measuring circuit. In this paper, a new method for walking speed measurement of artificial legs is proposed, in which we measure the movement duration of an artificial leg in swinging phase and express its walking speed indirectly in terms of this duration. In designing the circuit , we adopt a method called top down, i.e., first dividing the measuring circuit into several modules according to their functions and then designing each modular circuit respectively. We have used a piece of ispLSI 1016 superintegrated and programmable chip and adopt ISP(In System Program) to design and constitute the walking speed measuring circuit. By the use of ISP , we can modify and adjust the measuring circuit on site without a simulator. The walking speed measuring circuit designed in this paper has reasonable structure and can be used effectively to measure the walking speeds of intelligent artificial legs.
