One compound has been prepared from salicylaldehyde (HL) and the Cu (Ⅱ) salts Cu (NO3) 2.3H2O. The crystal structure has been characterized by single X-ray crystallography. The ligand serves as bidentate chelating unit connecting Cu (Ⅱ) ions via coordination to the oxygen atoms. Hydrogen bonds link the units into 3D networks.
