The three National Laboratories administered by the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Agency each have broad and comprehensive activities in support of national biodefense. The laboratories' programs address all aspects of biodefense in the areas of Threat Awareness, Prevention and Protection, Surveillance and Detection, and Response and Recovery. These efforts are supported by vigorous multidisciplinary research efforts at the labs.
