Construction of a conceptual geologic model from the deposit VLC-363

1977
A geologic study was made of the marshy area of Block III, assigned to Maraven SA with special emphasis on the stratigraphic interval C from the Eocene, penetrated by 18 holes. The principal object of the study is to construct a geologic model adequate for planning additional efficient recovery of hydrocarbons. Stratigraphically, Sect. C is divided into 7 members, or lithologic units, easily identifiable in well logs. This subdivision is the basis for a paleostructural analysis that is used together with seismic sections in the construction of structural maps of each member. Petrographic studies determined that the lithology is predominantly clayey; some intervals of high permeability and productivity occur in gross, almost impermeable bodies of sand. In general, the sands contain low water saturations, a phenomenon that is confirmed locally with the study of cores. The same cores confirmed the presence of distribution channels as the environment of deposition predominant in the sands. 10 references.
