Current situation on thetreatment modes of diarrhea cases in rural area

：Objective To understandthe situation of diarrhea cases visiting doctor modes in rural area in order to providedata to set up strategies for treatment and control of diarrhea.Methods Using the methodof multistage and clus-ter random sampling,we selected 6 villages from Shipu,Xizhou andXinqiao towns in Xiangshan county Zhejiang province.According to the definition ofdiarrhea case published by WHO,we conducted investigation in December 2006andMarch,June,September 2007.Results The average incidence of diarrhea within two weeks was0.65 %.The inci-dence rate in more than 60 years old within two weeks was 1.11%,it wasobviously higher than the incidence rates in other age groups.The average consultationrate on diarrhea within the two weeks was 47.83 % for the three towns.The highestconsultation rate was 100.00% in the age group under 10 years old.The consultation rate isdifferent in different age groups and different seasons.69.70% of the diarrhea cases wentto village or community health service stations for help.Factors influencing the behaviorsof visiting a doctor seeking were found by logistic regression method.Thefever,civilization and seasons were the main factors.Conclusions Most of the diarrheacases choose village or community health service stations,so we should strengthen therural doctors training to improve the quality of medical services in future.
