An application of surface barrier solid state detectors is made to the spectrometry of alpha particles and fission fragments. The chatacteristics of the reaction B/sup 10/(n, alpha )Li/sup 7/ are deduced; and the reaction Li/sup 6/ (n, alpha )H/sup 3/, the emission of alpha particles by uranium, and the thermal neutron induced fisself-absoption of a alpha and fission fragments on their energy distribution shapes is displayed.
