Challenges toward Industry 4.0: A Case Study of Power Plants in Indonesia

This paper presents challenges for implementing industry 4.0 in power plants in Indonesia. The challenges are identified based on the industry 4.0 readiness assessment that was conducted at several power plants in Indonesia during 20192020. The interview and site visit survey were used in the assessment. By identifying the challenges, an effective digital transformation strategy toward Power plant 4.0 can be developed. The strategy that not only focus with implementation of industry 4.0’s core technologies, but also considering the human and social conditions. The research found that the digital mindset of the employee, cyber security and the commitment from top managements are the main challenges for the industry 4.0 transformation in the Indonesian power plants.
