Phase diagram of the SnTe-CdSe section of the ternary reciprocal system SnTe + CdSe (reversible reaction) SnSe + CdTe

This paper studies the phase diagram of the SnTe-CdSe section. Solid-state phase transformations were studied in samples, annealed at 670-, 970, and 1020 K for 250, 120, and 100 h respectively and quenched in ice water. The interaction was investigated along the section by differential-thermal, XPA, and microstructural analysis. The diagonal section of the ternary reciprocal system is shown not to be quasibinary, i.e., the equilibrium in the system is very little displaced to the side of the reaction between SnTe and CdSe. Diffractograms of a number of samples of the section, annealed at 970 K, are presented.
