A Comparative Study Of Government And Punjab Education Foundations (Pef) Public School Support Programs (Pssp) Owned Schools In Promoting Quality Education In The Province Of Punjab

A comparison of Government and Punjab Education Foundation’s (PEF) Public School Support Programs (PSSP) owned primary schools in promoting quality education in the province of Punjab was the key purpose of the study. The study was descriptive. The study compared public sector schools and Punjab Education Foundation’s PSSP owned schools regarding the quality of education in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. Data were collected from 60×primary schools (Public=30 & Private=30) from the official websites of the School Education Department (SED) Punjab, Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), and Punjab Examination Commission (PEC). Data were analyzed through SPSS Version 26 by applying an independent sample t-test to compare the means of both the types of schools against selected indicators. The current study revealed no significant difference between the enrollment as well as academic achievement of students at both types of schools. The study further revealed that attendance of students, as well as teachers, was better at PSSP schools as compared to Public Sector Schools in the province. The study presented implications for educational managers and policymakers as well. It also offered new avenues for further research. The findings of this study may be beneficial for the government of Punjab to bring improvement in the quality of education. The study is new and unique in the field of the education field. The findings of this study may be instrumental in promoting quality education in a true sense.
