Application of the 3D laser scanner to the Hui-Quan substation modeling

2011
A three-dimensional modeling study on spatial object was carried out using the spatial data captured via ground-based 3D laser scanner in Hui-Quan substation.First of all,the density of points to data acquisition influence was discussed. The whole matching correction was implemented after the target object was recognized and the features of point, line and polygon were extracted.Afterwards, the original measurement data were re-sampled and registered. Finally, triangular meshes were built to generate a three-dimensional surface model. As a new method, terrestrial 3D laser scanner can easily and quickly acquire the complex geometric data from buildings, objects and so on.It should be an innovation in this area because it changes the way of conventional surveying and data processing. The experiment result showed that rapid 3D visualization modeling on buildings could be achieved via the methods and procedures mentioned above. It solved the problem that the traditional equipment and the measuring technique is insufficiency in the special domain. It would bring the application mode and technical advantage, which traditional measuring instruments can not have.A platform for three-dimensional model of the substation can be achieved for the digital, dynamic visualization.
