Control aspect of order picking process

Order picking, typically present in warehouses of unitized goods, involves a lot of activities concerned on fulfilling client's order - at first the assortment and quantities of ordered goods. Order picking performances (productivity, response time, error level, costs etc) highly depend on present warehouse technology, layout, order-picking subsystem (at first on order-picking technology and management strategy involved). As order picking generates much activities, significant costs, and so on, it is permanent point of investigations, aiming to achieve rationalizations, development etc. This paper is concerned on management aspect of order picking and possibilities of those processes development, based on modern IT solutions and design (RF, Pick to Voice, Pick to Light,.).
