AUSTENITIZING LARGE HOLLOW CYLINDERS BY INDUCTION HEATING

1962
Abstract : INVESTIGATIONS WERE MADE INTO THE USE OF INDUCTION HEATING TECHNIQUES FOR LARGE HOLLOW CYLINDERS HAVING VARYING WALL RATIOS. A comparative analysis between induction heating and other forms of heating is given. Results indicated that induction heating is an advantageous method for use in austenitizing long hollow cylinders of irregular cross sections from the standpoint of low operating costs, ease of operation, less costly maintenance and versatility for handling both small and large production rates economically.
