Topical problems in ensuring safe operation of gas pipelines in the far north environment

Introduction. Linear part and pipe fittings of gas pipelines are one of the most critical elements of the gas transfer system. The stress state of above-ground and underground gas pipelines exerts a profound influence on their serviceability under conditions of internal pressure, thermal and vibration loads. Moreover, a great influence is made by the quality of metal and degree of its damage in operation, fracture strength characteristics under static and cyclic loading as well as corrosion cracking.
