Performance of growing kids under different feed regimens.

2010
An experiment was conducted to investigate the liking of growing Beetal goats for different forms of concentrate feed under stall-fed production system. Thirty-two growing male and female kids of 3–4 months of age were distributed randomly into four equal groups. The concentrate feed was offered in different forms i.e. mash, pellet, crumble and these forms together to different groups (Tm, Tp, Tc and Tmpc). Fresh green fodder and concentrate feed intake were recorded daily and body weight at 30 days interval. The observations were recorded for a period of 90 days. Fresh green fodder intake did not differ between any two groups. The concentrate feed consumption did not differ significantly among Tm, Tp and Tc, whereas the growing kids consumed significantly more pellet and mash than crumble form of concentrate feed in Tmpc. Mean live weight gain was similar in all the four groups. The results indicated that kids were having similar liking for any form of concentrate feed when offered in single form but liked pellet and mash over crumble form when offered together.
