Determinación del status sanitario de leucosis en un hato bovino mediante la aplicación de un kit rápido de elisa competitivo en el cantón Pedro Vicente Maldonado

The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of Enzootic Bovine Leukosis in a farm dedicated to dairy production, located in the canton of Pedro Vicente Maldonado. A clinical examination and blood sampling was carried out on all the animals on the farm, on different days. The blood samples were processed to obtain serum and to be able to analyze them whit a fast kit of competitive Elisa, ID Screen percent BLV Competition, which has a sensitivity of 99 percent. Reaching as a result an apparent prevalence of 1.75 percent of Enzootic Bovine Leukosis which represents 1 animal of the total of 57 animals in the herd. Associating this prevalence with the risk factors of the property under study: the reproduction is done by direct mounting and purchase of animals without health records.
