New Technical Synthesis of Ethyl(R)-2-Hydroxy-4-phenylbutyrate

The synthetic methods on ethyl(R)-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyrate is described in detail.Using D-malic acid as materials,Ethyl(R)-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyrate is synthesized by four steps of anhydride activity,Frieded-Crafts reaction,hydrogenolysis and esterification.The product yield is 68%.The structure of the product was determined by 1H NMR and MS.
