The invention discloses a sunlight fiber lighting device and a sun tracking method. The device comprises a light collector array, a sun positioning sensor electrically connected with a controller as well as an angle sensor; wherein the light collector array and the sun positioning sensor are fixed on the pitching board of the device, the pitching board can rotate with two degrees of freedom by a horizontal shaft and a vertical shaft which are respectively connected with the angle sensor, the pitching angle and the azimuth angle of the pitching board are measured, the sun positioning sensor precisely measures the position of the sun with a photo sensor array, and the controller comprises a single chip, a GPS circuit and a signal processing circuit; the tracking method comprises that: under the condition of large deviation, orbit algorithm is adopted to track the sun while under the condition of small deviation, the sun positioning sensor is adopted to precisely track the sun; the invention guarantees the automation and high preciseness in the process of sun tracking, keeps the reliability and stability of operation of fiber lighting device and is applicable to places demanding for safety lighting or natural lighting such as arsenals, sanitariums, museums, basements, etc.
