Analyse cristallochimique de la structure de Rh4P3, type structural intermédiaire entre les structures MX et M2X

The crystal-chemical analysis of the structure of Rh 4 P 3 leads us to the conclusion that it can be described as an intermediate structural type between MX phases and those of (□, Ln, M) 2 X analyzed previously [1]. All the structures involved are considered as given arrangements of an identical rhombohedral unit, the composition difference arising from the filling mechanism of these building elements by the metal atoms. This analysis reinforces and extends the predictive character of the crystal-chemical model we have set up previously for the (□, Ln, M) 2 X phases and based on the notion of formal valence associated for a given metal atom to the nature of the occupied site L'analyse cristallochimique de la structure de Rh 4 P 3 montre qu'elle peut etre consideree comme un type structural intermediaire entre les structures des phases (□, Ln, M) 2 X analysees precedemment [1] et certaines structures de phases MX. Toutes ces structures peuvent etre considerees comme autant d'arrangements differents obtenus a partir d'un meme motif de base rhomboedrique; les differences de composition ont pour origine les modes de remplissage de ces motifs par les elements metalliques. Cette analyse renforce et etend le caractere predictif du modele cristallochimique propose precedemment pour les phases (□, Ln, M) 2 X, base sur la notion de charge formelle associee pour un atome metallique a la nature du site occupe dans la structure consideree
