CERTAIN SERVICE PROPERTIES OF MIXED PETROLEUM AND SYNTHETIC OILS

1993
Thus, the behavior of the DOA differs from that of the DOS and DOP in the oil base stock, but all of the esters behave similarly in hexadecane. When 5-10% of the DOA is added to the petroleum oil, certain structures are apparently formed, which may be either microphases of the ester itself or mixed structures with the aromatic hydrocarbons of the oil. Analogous structures are formed when the DOS or DOP is added, but at concentrations above 65%. In the absence of aromatic hydrocarbons, no microphases of the esters themselves are formed, as indicated by the linear increase of the parameter aiso.
