ESR spectra of radiation induced anion radicals of 1,3-butadiene and its derivatives in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran glass

A bleachable component in the ESR spectra of γ-irradiated MTHF glass containing 1,3-butadiene, isoprene, 2,3-dimethylbutadiene, 1,3-pentadiene and 2,4-hexadiene at 77 K is attributed to the molecular anions. The spectra have been analyzed by a procedure which involves the computation of line profiles produced by anion radicals rigidly trapped in the matrix. The application of this technique to differentiate between possible conformations of the ions is discussed. Glas aus MTHF, das 1,3-Butadien, Isopren, 2,3-Dimethylbutadien oder 2,4-Hexadien enthalt und mit γ-Strahlung bei 77 K bestrahlt worden ist, gibt ein ESR-Spektrum mit einer Komponente, die vom Licht gebleicht wird. Die bleichbare Komponente kann auf die Anione der Diene bezogen werden. Die Deutung grundet sich auf ein Berechnungsverfahren von Linienprofilen bei Radikalen, die in der Matrix festsitzen. Die Anwendung dieser Technik zur Unterscheidung verschiedener Konformationen der Radikalionen wird diskutiert.
