The current situation of stay intention of male nurses in psychiatric department and its influence factors

Objective To investigate the current situation of stay intention of male nurses in psychiatric department, and explore the relationship between stay intention of male nurses and job stress, job satisfaction. Methods 70 male nurses in psychiatric department were selected as the research object. The general information questionnaire, stay intention scale, job satisfaction scale, and nurses stressor scale were used in the survey. Results The average score of stay intention of male nurses in psychiatric department was (3.38±0.82). Stay intention of male nurses in psychiatric department was negatively correlated to work pressure (r=-0.252, P<0.05), positively correlated to job satisfaction (r=0.430, P<0.01). Stepwise regression analysis showed that job satisfaction was the main factor influencing stay intention of male nurses in psychiatric department. Conclusions The score of stay intention of male nurses in psychiatric department is in the middle level; the hospital and related departments should take effective measures to improve the job satisfaction of male nurses, enhance the retention rate of male nurses, promote the sustainable development of the construction of nursing team.
