The invention relates to a bending apparatus (1) for a plate-shaped metal workpiece. The bending apparatus is characterized by including a plurality of expansion and contraction devices (servo screw jacks 20A-20G) each including a suction device (suction pad 10) configured to suck a surface of a plate-shaped metal workpiece 3 in a removable manner. A cardinal end is mounted on a substrate (pedestal 2), which can flex from the cardinal end to the suction unit. The suction unit is adhered to the surface of the plate-shaped metal workpiece (3), and the bending apparatus is configured to form the plate-shaped metal workpiece (3) under bending deformation by the expansion unit in the state.
