Adenoidectomy and Sinus Lavage

2020
Chronic rhinosinusitis affects individuals of all ages, but therapy varies based on the severity of disease in addition to the age of the patient. The sinonasal anatomy of children differs when compared to their adult counterparts, making directed treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis dependent on the available options for children. These surgical options include adenoidectomy, with and without sinus lavage, and endoscopic sinus surgery. Adenoidectomy with or without sinus lavage is often the first-line surgical therapy for children with CRS. In this chapter, we review the current literature and evidence of using this intervention.
