After decades devoted to improving the first-generation DNA sequencing methods, major technological revolution has enabled the emergence of second- and third-generation DNA sequencing methods, and they have quickly become prominent. These new technologies are still in their early stages when advances are expected as the quantity and accuracy of the produced DNA sequences still need improvement.
