An Optimal Winding-end Connection Principle with Minimum Bridge Current Stress for Odd-Phase Series-end Winding Topology

2021
The multiphase series-end winding motor drive receives attention due to its low cost, complete control freedoms and abundant winding connection selections. Different winding series combination will cause huge performance diversity in voltage utilization or bridge current stress. The most widely used solutions now possess excellent voltage utilization, but the same high current stress will limit its application that are more sensitive to current. This paper proposes an optimal winding connection sequence to get the theoretically lowest bridge current stress of odd-phase series-end winding topology. Experiment results verify the feasibility of proposed winding connection methods.
