Reduction of Packet Duplication in Broadcasting Inter Vehicular Information Using 5G Network

2021
With the increased number of vehicles on the roads, the generation of duplicate packets is a common problem in the Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET). Duplicate packets increase the overhead of packets in a network. Thus resulting in an increased delay and an unnecessary flow of packets. In a dense network, the problem is more severe. In this paper, we have proposed an effective Conflict Region Control Flooding (CFCR) algorithm to reduce the overhead of duplicate packets transmission. Furthermore, we have provided our simulation results depending on three different performance metrics- the accuracy of the proposed method, redundant packets removal percentage, and delay- to show that the approach is effective enough in reducing the overhead of packets over the regular flooding approach.
