Autopsy Findings in Pediatric Deaths from Fluoroacetamide and Tetramine Poisoning

Objective:To study the pathological changes of critical organs in children poisoned by rodenticides.Methods: 6 cases of autopsy were confirmed to be fluoroacetamide or tetramine poisoning by analysis of gastric fluid.The internal viscera were extracted,paraffin-embedded and observed by microscopic examination.Results:Significant pathological changes observed in 6 cases involved central nervous system,liver,kidney,heart,gastrointestinal tract,lung,spleen,adrenal gland and bone marrow.Conclusion: Fluoroacetamide and tetramine are highly toxic and pathogenic agents which may cause multiple organ failure and even death.
