The flux of charged particles in the atmosphere can be computed either by using tools such as HETC to describe interaction between cosmic rays and atmcspheric constituents, or by using empirical models based on measured data. . Results obtained using the HETC agree well with measured values. The empirical models suggested by E. Normand and by Wilson and Nealy need comparing with new high-altitude readings.
