Conical Conformal Antenna Array Using SIW Backed Feeding Technique for X Band Applications

A conical-shaped conformal antenna array using the SIW feeding technique at 10.5 GHz presented in this paper. The advantages of SIW feeding technique in the conformal-shaped antennas are presented. The height, bottom and upper radius of the cone are 110 mm, 150 mm and 80 mm, respectively. Impedance bandwidth of the proposed design is 238.6 MHz from 10.378 GHz to 10.616 GHz. The minimum return loss is −25.14 at 10.505 GHz. The gain and radiation efficiency are observed as 7.20 dB and more than 85%, respectively. It seems that SIW configuration can be used in a conformal antenna for the X band.
