Transfer of Actinosporangium violaceum Krasil’nikov and Yuan, Actinosporangium vitaminophilum Shomura et al. and Actinopycnidium caeruleum Krasil’nikov to the Genus Streptomyces, with Amended Descriptions of the Species

Summary Chemical, genetical and phenetic data indicate a very close relationship between the genera Actinopycnidium Krasil’nikov and Actinosporangium Krasil’nikov and Yuan and the genus Streptomyces Waksman and Henrici. It is proposed that the genera Actinopycnidium and Actinosporangium become junior synonyms of the genus Streptomyces and that Actinopycnidium caeruleum Krasil’nikov, A ctinosporangium violaceum Krasil’nikov and Yuan and Actinosporangium vitaminophilum be transferred to the genus Streptomyces as Streptomyces humiferus (Krasil’nikov) nom. nov., Streptomyces paradoxus ( Krasil’nikov and Yuan ) nom. nov. and Streptomyces vitaminophileus ( Shomura et al.) comb, nov. , respectively.
