Educación STEM ¿Estamos preparados para este cambio en el sistema educativo en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela?

Currently there is a wide range of digital tools that can be used in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (the so-called STEM disciplines) during the development of schooling at the secondary and diversified levels. In this research work, based on the definitions proposed by framework documents of broad international consensus, the meeting points between STEM education and digital tools are discussed, and how an adequate symbiosis between the two can serve both to improve skills scientific, mathematical and technological skills of students who will enter the university educational system in the future, as well as to improve their digital skills necessary for personal and professional development in the digital age. The research aims to provide a perspective on the use of digital tools in the classroom that transcends the passing fads imposed by the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and that focuses on why and how to use each of these tools, and for this we focus on highlighting both the opportunities that digital teaching offers for STEM learning. A diagnosis will be made from a set of reflections and contributions from the documentary review developed in the research, it is intended to establish if the educational system in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is prepared to take on the challenges posed by STEM teaching. The researcher assumes a qualitative ethnographic methodological approach, where direct observation will be highlighted, the search for information and documentation, the personal experience of the researcher as a teacher will also be used.
