A study on jurisdiction in fighting against piracy

Piracy remains a serious threat to the international community in modern times.It has long been treated as a universal crime that the perpetrators are subject to punishment in any country once they are caught.But the existing international laws regarding the provisions of the crimes of piracy have limitations on the implementation of the comprehensive and effective punishments,universal jurisdiction lefts gaps.While expanding the scope of universal jurisdiction,the international community should adhere to the principles such as:country permission,country cooperation,compliance with the international treaty and the international customs.
