Superhydrophobic PDMS/wax coated polyester textiles with self-healing ability via inlaying method

2019
Abstract A superhydrophobic polyester textile (SPT) with easily repairable ability was obtained by modifying pristine textile (RT) with PDMS and paraffin wax under 120 °C, the textile fiber became compact and exhibited clear micronano structures by a strong interact of PDMS/wax and textiles. The as prepared textiles exhibit satisfactory stability after mechanical abrasion and chemical-corrosion. Furthermore, the coated textiles possess excellent self-cleaning ability and could be used to selectively separate various kinds of oil-water mixture. More interestingly, the fabric can recover its super liquid-repellent property after drying at room temperature even after immersing in water for a week. This work provides a facile strategy to prepare an environment safety superhydrophobic polyester textile for practical utilization.
