PENINGKATAN PROSES DAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA MENGGUNAKAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING PADA PEMBELAJARAN IPA KELAS IV

Education is very important in the progress of a nation, where the Indonesian government is very concerned about the field of education, especially basic education to shape the character of students. Based on Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the national education system. Education functions to develop capabilities and shape the character and civilization of a dignified nation in the context of educating the nation's life. aims to develop the potential of students to become human beings who believe and fear God Almighty and become democratic and responsible citizens. This study aims to improve science learning outcomes for fourth grade students of SDN 17/II Tanah Grow using the discovery learning model. This research is a classroom action research research. Using the subject of class IV students of SDN 17/II Tanah Grow, totaling 16 students, consisting of 10 male students and 6 female students. This research was conducted in two cycles of action. In the first cycle, it was conducted in one meeting, while in the second cycle it was conducted in two meetings. Each cycle contains planning, implementation, observation, and reflection activities. The instruments used are observation sheets and tests. Observation data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively while the test results were analyzed descriptively by quantitative percentages. The results of the first cycle of research showed that the percentage of students was 68.75%, so they still could not reach the research success criteria. In cycle II, the steps for applying the discovery learning model to increase student success were done by giving motivation, the division of the number of members of a smaller group and the heterogeneity of its members, as well as providing the opportunity to make group presentations on the results of their practicum in front of the class. The percentage value in the second cycle increased to 87.5%. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the discovery learning model is able to improve the process and results of science learning.
