Analysis of SWIPT Receiver

2020
In this paper an efficient way of information transmission and energy harvesting in a wireless communication is studied. The objective is to maximize the information rate under efficient utilization of transmitted power. To maximize the information rate versus energy harvesting different schemes like time switching (TS), power splitting (PS) for separated and integrated receiver are evaluated by rate-energy diagram. Effects of noise in the R-E region is analyzed. Simulation of R-E tradeoff for separated receiver using practical modulation QAM and single input multiple output(SIMO) system in a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT) over fading channel is investigated. Without the knowledge of channel gain distribution and knowing the mean and covariance matrix of the channel, robust outage capacity is defined and that can be applicable to any channel distribution. The trade-off between robust outage capacity and harvested energy is carried out for different fading channels (Nakagami-m, $\kappa-\mu$ and $\eta-\mu$ ). Rate-energy tradeoff of power splitting scheme(PS) performs better compared to time switching(TS) scheme.
