The Otorhinolaryngeal Aspects of the Treatment of Benign Orbital Disorders

1985
The orbit is surrounded by the territory of the ENT-specialist. The orbital walls are the demarcation of the orbit, the sphere of interest of the ophthalmic surgeon. It is not surprising that interdisciplinary consultation is frequently necessary in case of lesions in and around the orbit. This is particularly true for a number of benign orbital disorders. For instance, the Orbital Centre of the University of Amsterdam has needed ENT-assistance in 320 cases during the last two years. In order of frequency these were: meningioma 81 haemsngioma 71 mucocele 52 dermoid cyst 41 neurofibroma and neurinoma 32 fibrous dysplasia 14 osteoma 13 lipogranuloma 6 eosinophilic granuloma 2
