Ultrafiltration Loss in Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Patients Effects of Intraperitoneal Therapy with Calcium Antagonists
1990
An immune-mediated mechanism of ultrafiltration (UF) loss in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients has recently been hypothesized(1) In a previous study(2) we showed that CAPD patients with a low UF capacity have significantly higher peritoneal fluid concentrations of lymphomonokines such as interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and interleukin 1 (IL-1), which stimulate fibroblast proliferation, compared to normal UF patients.
