Electric parking brake with disc brake

2006
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake with an electric parking brake capable of obtaining large piston thrust required when applying the parking brake without affecting a service brake adversely. SOLUTION: A parking brake mechanism 32 operating by using an electric motor attached to a housing 30 externally as a driving source is added to a caliper 14 arranging a piston 26 in a cylinder 24 slidably. The parking brake mechanism 32 is provided with a nut member 37 fitted into the piston 26 through a sealing member 36 slidably and locked in the piston 26 by engagement of a pin 48 with a pin hole 49 and a shaft 35 screw-engaged with the nut member 37. Only the piston 26 is propelled by supplying liquid pressure when applying the service brake to generate small piston thrust, and the electric motor is rotated in accordance with supply of liquid pressure when applying the parking brake to propel the piston 26 and the nut member 37 integrally and obtain large piston thrust by large pressure receiving area obtained by putting both of them together.
