Paramagnetism-enhanced doped maghemite nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery

2021
Abstract Cancer-affected tissues are distinguishable from their healthier counterparts by dint of paucity of oxygen in the dysfunctional tissues’ micro-ambience manifested from vasculature failure. Constraining tumour-cell proliferation by traditional techniques have been reported to be not so effective because of the permeability issues of the conventional anti-cancer entities in hypoxic environment. In this context, nanoparticles capable of being manipulated by external magnetic field, have gained considerable research interest because of attributes like facile synthesis and amenability for therapeutic and magnetic resonance imaging applications. In this article, we have presented the experimental synthesis and characterization of maghemite nanoparticles for magnetically modulated drug delivery systems.
