A Hybridised, Charged-Particle Multidetector

1991
A hybrid circuit is reported which is a novel position sensitive charged-particle detector. Multi-channel detectors have been developed which consist of an array of charge sensing electrodes and a corresponding array of amplifiers and counters integrated on a single chip. The active electrode area can be arbitrarily extended by abutting individual detector chips side-by-side, under the control of a customising LCA. When mounted with a Micro-Channel Plate (MCP) multiplier the device counts individual particles or photons.
