Dopamine depolarising response in a vertebrate neuronal somatic cell hybrid

1975
Abstract : The response to iontophoretically applied dopamine was studied in the somatic cell hybrid 108CC15. Dopamine gave a depolarizing response with a conductance increase. The reversal potential for the response was -15.9 mV. Known dopamine antagonists blocked the response. These results demonstrate a dopamine response in a single cell preparation of vertebrate neuronal origin and the utilization of cultured cells to study receptor mechanisms in an isolated, controlled environment.
