Progress in mass determination with the aid of a vibrating ribbon

1996
A vibrating ribbon is proposed as a mass sensor for particulate matter or thin layers, with measurement and documentation feasibility. A review is given of pertinent experiences with the transversely vibrating ribbon, both the development of the device and its applications, and also of the longitudinally vibrating ribbon. Application of the quotient method for the longitudinally vibrating ribbon to remove systematic errors caused by temperature and other disturbances is discussed.
