Electric field of a gas discharge driven by an electron beam accelerated with a time-varying voltage

1985
The electric field is calculated for an electron-beam-driven discharge for the case when the region of gas ionized by the beam varies with time. The width of the ionization front divided by the length of the discharge gap is a small parameter for high-pressure discharges which is exploited to calculate the electric field, and the limitations of the method are discussed.
