Apparatus and method for dredging a settling pond

A settling basin dredging apparatus is provided to accurately sense a stacking height toward a whole-area of a settling basin by marking off the settling basin with a plurality of sections and sensing stacking height using a mobile sensor and to sense accumulation height of the settling basin in bad weather. A settling basin dredging apparatus contains: a settling basin detecting apparatus(300) installed at a lower part of a crane, moved by the crane and sensing a stacking height of the settling basin; a crane detecting apparatus(200) sensing the crane; a control device(500) implementing dredging of dredging section, controlling the settling basin detecting apparatus in order to sense the stacking height of a plurality of sections, determining dredging section necessary to have dredging in a plurality of sections based on the stacking height from inputted control information and the settling basin detecting apparatus and controlling the crane and the pump based on sensing the crane; and an input unit(100) receiving control information including voltaic setting range of a motor for controlling a stacking height set value and pump.
