Multiband Monopole Antenna with Large Bandwidth

This paper presents the design of a microstrip fed finger shape triple band monopole antenna. The radiator is comprised of five strips which are arranged like fingers. To maintain the structure symmetry, the lengths of the strips are chosen properly. The design antenna has three wide −10dB impedance bandwidth in the range of 2.14GHz to 3.61GHz (lower band), 4.99GHz to 5.68GHz (middle band), and 5.71GHz to 7.84GHz (upper band). The proposed antenna covers LTE E/D 2300–2800, Wi-Fi (2.4-2.484GHz), WLAN (2.4/5.2/5.8), and WiMAX (2.5/3.2/5.5) standards and X-band for satellite communication (7.25GHz to 7.75GHz). The measured peak gains are 3.8dBi, 4.75dBi and 4.5dBi at 2.9GHz, 5.4GHz and 6.4GHz, respectively. To optimize various parameters of the designed antenna simulations are carried out by the tool of Ansys HFSS.
