Correlates of Participation of Farm Women in Decision Making

The study was conducted in Parbhani, Palam and Gangakhed talukas of Parbhani district of Marathwada region of Maharashtra State. Four villages were selected randomly from each selected talukas. Thus, twelve villages from three talukas were selected randomly for this study. From each village ten farm women were selected randomly. Thus, a total of 120 farm women were selected as a sample respondents for this study. The findings revealed that majority 65.00 per cent of respondents were of middle age, educated upto secondary level (41.67 per cent), had medium size of family (45.00 per cent) and hailed from nuclear type of family (65.83 per cent). It also noticed that majority (44.17 per cent) of the respondents possesses land holding between 1.01 to 2.00 ha and having annual income ranging between Rs.19,541 to 64,101 (48.33 per cent). Majority (60.83 per cent) of respondents had medium level of social participation and 56.67 per cent of respondents had medium use of mass media. The variables like education, land holding, annual income, social participation and use of mass media were positively and significantly related to participation of farm women in decision making.
