SUBSEQUENT TO INFECTION WITH HISTOMONAS MELEAGRIDISA
2016
SUMMARY The effects of histomoniasis on the serum protein levels in chickens were observed quantitatively through 12 days of infection. The changes observed included a depression of albumin concentrations to 51% of that of controls through the 9th day postinfection, with recovery to near normal on the 12th day. All globulin fractions increased by the 12th day, resulting in a total globulin concentration 227% as great as control values. The significance of these results is discussed in relation to histomoniasis in turkeys as reported by other workers.
