Correlative factors of nosocomial infection in patients with traumatic paraplegia.

2010
OBJECTIVE To understand the incidence of nosocomial infection, its site and correlative factors of patients with traumatic paraplegia,so as to provide the evidence of preventing and controlling nosocomial infection.METHODS A retrospective analysis on discharged patients record of 168 cases with traumatic paralegia from Jan 2004 to Dec 2008 was taken.RESULTS Among 168 cases, the occurrence rate and case rate of nosocomial infection was 32.74%(55 cases) and 41.07%(69 case-times),respectively.The urinary tract infection ranked in the first(31 cases,44.93%) and the next were respiratory airway infection(19 cases,27.53%),and skin and soft tissue infection(13 cases,18.84%).The correlative factors of nosocomial infection were length of hospital stay, the severity of paraplegia, age, surgery and invasive operations(P0.01).The primary pathogenic bacteria of nosocomial infection were opportunity pathogenes, mainly Gram-negative bacteria.CONCLUSIONS It is necessary to decrease invasive operations, shorten the length of hospital stay, stregnthen the basic nursing care and the aseptic concept to decrease the incidence of nosocomial infection.
